BOZEMAN, MT (October 19, 2026) Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) surpassed three million passengers between October 2025 and September 2026, reaching the milestone earlier than anticipated and highlighting the strength of southwest Montana’s year-round travel market.
Passenger
traffic has remained strong throughout 2026, exceeding initial projections of
approximately 2.9 million passengers for the year. Since January, monthly
passengers have increased by 8.7% through September. For the 12-month period
ending September, 2026, BZN recorded 1,504,450 enplanements and 1,500,541
deplanements which totals 3,004,991 passengers through the BZN terminal.
BZN provides our local communities and region world-wide
access for the 38% of our travelers who are Montana residents. Tourism plays a
significant role contributing to approximately 35% of our passengers. However, travel
to Bozeman and the surrounding region extends beyond traditional vacation
travel. Nonresident, non-tourism travelers make up approximately 27% of the
airports sustained demand. These travelers include those visiting friends and
family, business travelers, and those coming to the area for other personal or
professional reasons. Yellowstone National Park visitation has remained
relatively stable across its various entrances, further demonstrating that
BZN’s passenger growth reflects a diverse travel market beyond tourism.
Looking ahead, BZN anticipates a relatively flat fall and
winter travel season. Airlines have adjusted flight frequencies in response to
elevated fuel prices and other operational considerations. While seasonal
travel patterns may shift, BZN remains focused on meeting the needs of the
communities and travelers it serves.
