Rich McLane

Rich is a born-and-raised Montanan and proud Montana State University Bobcat – Go Cats! He earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Criminology and spent 21 years serving in the U.S. Army and Montana Army National Guard, including an overseas deployment in 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He retired as a First Sergeant after serving as a military police officer, linguist, intelligence analyst and mechanized infantryman.

Rich brings more than 34 years of sworn law enforcement experience to Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN). He spent 26 years with the Bozeman Police Department, serving in a variety of roles before taking on several leadership positions and retiring as Deputy Chief of Police in 2018.

Rich joined BZN in 2018 as Police Lieutenant, helping grow the airport police department from seven to 12 officers. During his seven years as Lieutenant, he focused on building a well-rounded team and serving as a resource to airport employees and the traveling public. Rich was promoted to Chief of Public Safety at BZN in January 2026 and now leads the BZN Police Department with a focus on safety, service and supporting the airport community.
